Here are a few examples of work from Harminder Singh Judge. He describes himself as an artist trapped in a perpetual love triangle with religion, art and pop culture.  I came across Harminder, thanks to the Guardian newspaper. Some super strong messages being thrown out at you through his creative, artistic pieces.  If you like what you see there is an exhibition in Nottingham on that started on the 24th April - July called The Inconcistency of Everything.

Just watch and enjoy this animation by a52. A design advertising agency that recently revels in the latest high-end of photo-real visual effects. A company full of innovative and incredibly talented artists and designers, that I just discovered and made my boat hover. They have worked with multinational companies such as CocaCola and Lexus.

Election

This election is brought to life by the general public that have a chance to become there own graphic designers, to express there emotions and view points, either towards or against a particular party.

This poster here attempts to link David Cameron to the social unrest and unemployment 

Posters like these have been made by the general public bringing comedy into the vote. 

With the election creeping upon us design is playing its roll in society creating hundreds of poster for Labour, Liberal Democrats, and Conservative. These are normally simple posters with strong messages. Resurrecting the old Propaganda techniques used in the past making sure we don't make the wrong discussions. With the use of facebook as well, mock up posters are easily made up and virally past around the world to sway people views. 

Society does care about what happens to the country and the way we life, work and survive as Brits. We do need a change, many changes. This country is becoming to expensive to live in! The first flight I can take to get out of here, the better. Bring on Canada! 

Don Norman's Inspiring Talk

Don Norman on 3 ways good design makes you happy.


This is a talk I just watched presented by Don Norman about how good design make you happy, through three ways. They are Cognitive (beauty), visceral (subconscious), and reflective. He talks about how cognition is about understanding the world, emotion is about interpreting it and reflective is the super ego that looks over what's going on. Don comes out with some really interesting theories in this talk, which I have reflected on in my current project. This is an inspiring presentation and I recommend watching this.

Current Project

At the moment I am currently working my final project of university (Graphic Communication) called The Big Idea. I have to create, through any media, a piece of design, which communicates the word PREJUDICE in an new light, visually. Through research I have become very interested in the psychological side of design, which is a key part in communicating a message.  I have learnt this over the 3 years I have been studying Graphic Communication.

What I have become fascinated with is how incredibly fast human brains can form an opinion. Looking into material such as 'Blink' by Malcom Gladwell, which is the study of cognitive thinking and how we judge people within the first seconds of seeing or meeting someone 'thought with out thinking'. Rapid cognition is a key part in Prejudice. I am interested portraying the way that prejudice can be a useful technique to use because looking at why it is bad for society has been done over and over. I want to prove to my audience that prejudice can work in your favour. I will post my final outcome in 2 weeks...
